Last fall, Sony began streaming games from PS5 cloud hardware. The service is available to PS Plus Premium subscribers. If you are a Premium subscriber, you may now stream most free PS Plus games from the cloud (including PS5 games that are part of the PS Plus subscription).
A new feature that was introduced in the fall was the ability to stream select PS5 games that you have purchased outright (via the PlayStation Store) even if they are not part of the PS Plus games collection. But, you still do need to subscribe to PS Plus Premium to have access to the cloud streaming feature. Notable titles that got cloud gaming support included Hogwarts Legacy and Cyberpunk 2077. For the time being, the ability to stream PS5 games from the cloud is still restricted to actual PS5 devices (which admittedly defeats a lot of the purpose of the capability). However, we hope that the ability to stream to additional devices (including the PlayStation Portal) will be available sooner rather than later.
While there is still no news about additional device support, we ran our script against the entire PS5 game catalog again, and we do have some game news to report today. More big PS5 games have gotten cloud support!
New PlayStation Cloud Gaming Titles
- Destiny 2
- Dragon’s Dogma 2
- Rise of the Ronin
- Remnant II
- Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous
- DEADCRAFT
- No More Heroes 3
We did also notice that 4 games that previously had PlayStation Cloud Gaming access seem to have lost it.
- Grand Theft Auto Online (GTA V lost cloud access last month as well)
- Crusader Kings III
- Medieval Dynasty
- Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? – New Edition
The loss of GTA online is a bit of a bummer but not a surprise given Take Two’s up and down relationship with Cloud Gaming.
We have a list of all PlayStation Cloud Games as well as a list of games like the above that are available in the PlayStation Cloud but need to purchased individually.
