Antstream Arcade, the retro gaming cloud gaming platform has today added three video games to its large library. Of these three games, one is from the Atari 8-bit line of computers and the other two are arcade games from Atari, so let’s go over these games.
Boulder Dash 2: Rockford’s Revenge (Atari 8-bit)
The Atari 8-bit version of the classic video game Boulder Dash 2: Rockford’s Revenge. In this game, you take control of that title character, Rockford, as you dig your way through the earth and try to avoid falling boulders. This version of Boulder Dash 2 sits alongside the C64 and ZX Spectrum versions in the Antstream Arcade library.
Berzerk (Arcade)
The first arcade game on our list is the classic multidirectional shooter Berzerk. Originally developed by Alan McNeil and Stern Electronics but was later acquired by Atari. In Berzerk you must battle waves of robots and take on the evil AI who is named Evil Otto. This is one of the earliest arcade games and one which I have been waiting to come to Antstream for quite a while, especially due to Atari’s involvement with Antstream as a platform.
Frenzy (Arcade)
If you’re thinking this game looks like Berzerk, well that’s because Frenzy is the sequel to Berzerk. Just like Berzerk, Frenzy was developed by Alan McNeil for Stern Electronics but was later sold alongside Berzerk and ten other games to Atari in 2023. Frenzy has better graphics than Berzerk due to it being a later game, and also has more quality-of-life improvements like better audio. This is arguably the superior game to Berzerk, however, both being available now to Antstream Arcade users is great to see.
