The trailer went live on both PlayStation and Xbox’s official YouTube channels. So the tease doesn’t appear to be an Xbox exclusive.
Helldivers 2 is already playable through PS5 Cloud Streaming and on Boosteroid. You can also check out our full Helldivers 2 review for a deeper look at the game. It’s not confirmed for Xbox Cloud Gaming yet, but we’ll be keeping an eye out for any news before launch.
A Closer Look at the Halo 3 ODST Tease
Most of the “Bring the Boom” trailer plays out like a typical Helldivers 2 highlight reel. It’s packed with chaotic co-op combat and flashy explosions. Then, in the closing moments, the tone shifts. The scene cuts to a dark, rain-slick city, where you see a drop pod slam into the streets. Its shape and landing style are almost identical to the HEVs used by the Orbital Drop Shock Troopers in Halo, and a short music cue matches the style of Halo 3: ODST’s soundtrack.
This isn’t the first time Helldivers 2 has hinted at crossover content. Shortly after launch, Arrowhead’s developers said they were open to collaborations if they fit the game’s tone and felt natural. They’ve previously teamed up with other franchises, including a Killzone-themed gear set, so the idea of an ODST-inspired addition wouldn’t be out of place.
The new trailer doesn’t confirm exactly what this tease means for Helldivers 2. For now, it’s a short but unmistakable nod to one of Xbox’s most recognizable Halo spin-offs. It’s already sparked plenty of conversation across the community.
Countdown to Drop Day
With Helldivers 2’s Xbox debut just around the corner, the Halo 3: ODST tease adds an unexpected twist to the lead-up. Arrowhead hasn’t shared details yet, but the crossover has already become a talking point among fans.
Xbox owners will soon get their first taste of Helldivers 2’s chaotic missions and galaxy-spanning battles, joining the ongoing push for Managed Democracy. For those already fighting on PS5, PC, or in the cloud, it’s a chance to see how the crossover is added to the game.
As someone who’s dropped into both Helldivers 2 and Halo 3: ODST more times than I can count, seeing those two worlds even hint at crossing paths is something I never expected to see.
