Respawn Entertainment is reintroducing players to the core experience of Apex Legends with its latest update, From the Rift. This new event brings a mix of nostalgic gameplay, character revamps, and powerful cosmic additions, promising a fresh experience while paying homage to the early days of the game.
Launch Royale Mode
From the Rift takes players back to Apex Legends as it was in 2019 with the new limited-time mode, Launch Royale. This mode reintroduces classic weapons, the original roster of Legends, and the core map layout without EVO Armor or upgraded abilities. Players can take on Launch Royale Challenges to unlock Legends, Apex Packs, and other rewards, allowing them to relive the excitement of the first Apex drops.
Lifeline Revived with New Abilities
Lifeline returns with a redesigned set of abilities, turning her into a more aggressive front-line support character. The updated kit includes:
- Passive: Combat Glide – Allows Lifeline to briefly glide by holding JUMP midair with her D.O.C. companion.
- Tactical: D.O.C. Heal Drone – Deploys D.O.C. to follow and heal allies nearby.
- Ultimate: D.O.C. Halo – Activates a protective shield, enabling faster health and shield recovery for teammates within the Halo zone.
Lifeline’s changes in Apex Legends: From the Rift make her a dynamic force on the battlefield, blending mobility with powerful support capabilities.
Rift Relics and New Arsenal
Rift Relics, mysterious items with cosmic powers, are scattered across the Outlands. These items spawn through reality-bending rifts, offering players weapons with unique effects, like the EPG-1 Launcher that enables rocket-jumping and explosive splash damage. New Hop-Up mods, like Lifesteal, provide healing with each hit, bringing a new twist to combat strategy.
Support Class Perks Expanded
In Apex Legends: From the Rift. support class receives upgrades that solidify its role in the game:
- Heal Expert – Doubles the healing from small health items and allows full-speed movement while healing.
- Revive Expert – Grants faster revives (25% speed boost) with health regeneration for revived allies, making it easier for teams to recover quickly in tough situations.
Skill Display Improvements and Universal Melee Cosmetic
To add clarity and balance to matchmaking, Apex Legends now features a skill display system that shows a live rank distribution of players in each match. Players can now see how they rank against the competition as soon as they load in.
Additionally, the update introduces a universal melee cosmetic, Raptor’s Claw. This new item will be available through the Void Mercenary Store until January 7, 2025, and will later move to the Mythic Shop.
