Assassin’s Creed Shadows Adds New Game+, Raises Level Cap, and Sets Date for Claws of Awaji Expansion

Ubisoft has detailed the summer roadmap for Assassin’s Creed Shadows, introducing several major features and updates, including the long-awaited New Game+ mode, progression changes, quality-of-life improvements, and a new expansion.

New Game+ Arrives July 29

New Game+ will be available starting July 29 for players who have completed the story and watched the end credits. The mode resets story progress, objectives, and discovered locations while keeping character level, gear, skill points, Knowledge rank, and Hideout upgrades intact. This makes the Assassin’s Creed experience fresh, especially in Shadows, where players will be able to start over from the beginning or skip directly to the point where Naoe takes over the Hideout, with tutorial prompts disabled for returning players.

Progression System Overhaul

Also arriving on July 29 is a progression update that increases the level cap from 60 to 80 for all players. Within Assassin’s Creed Shadows, this update adds new Knowledge Ranks, Mastery Skills, and additional Hideout upgrades, including a new tier for Heiji’s Forge. Ubisoft is also launching Project 3, which includes new resources, data files, and Animus-themed rewards, continuing the in-universe mystery narrative found in previous content drops.

Quality-of-Life Update Coming in September

A separate update, set for early September, will address several frequently requested features. Key changes include:

  • Fog of war will clear after synchronizing viewpoints in each region
  • Players will be able to skip time to dusk or dawn
  • A new Forge upgrade allows crafting Mythic and Artifact gear tiers
  • Hideout features will receive further upgrades
  • PC players will benefit from uncapped framerates during cutscenes
  • Additional legacy features, bug fixes, and stability improvements

This quality-of-life update in Assassin’s Creed Shadows will release ahead of the game’s first story expansion and will be free for all players.
