Ubisoft has shared the full Year 1 post-launch roadmap for Assassin’s Creed Shadows. The roadmap outlines a series of upcoming updates and features designed to keep the live-service title evolving throughout 2025. The Assassin’s Creed Shadows content plan includes both free and optional paid content. It focuses on expanding gameplay, refining mechanics, and incorporating player feedback.
The first major update in the Assassin’s Creed Shadows content is set to arrive on May 6. Titled The Works of Luís Fróis, this Story Drop will introduce a new free quest. It is centered around the real-life Jesuit missionary and writer, offering new player abilities, world activities, and narrative depth.
Ubisoft also confirmed several gameplay improvements requested by the community. Later in May, a parkour-focused update will introduce new vertical movement mechanics, including height-gaining back-ejects, improved side-ejects, and the new Vertical Ledge Jump. These features aim to provide smoother traversal options across Feudal Japan’s varied landscapes within the Assassin’s Creed Shadows content.
Content for the upcoming months
A second major update is planned for June, bringing further immersion customization. Players will be able to toggle headgear visibility during cutscenes. They can also disable specific visual effects, such as combat glints and stealth outlines. Additionally, Ubisoft is expanding the in-game alarm system to the open world. This will add another layer of challenge for stealth-focused players interested in Assassin’s Creed Shadows content.
One of the biggest upcoming additions is Claws of Awaji, a paid expansion free for pre-order customers. Launching later this year, the DLC will unlock a new region. It will continue the story of Naoe and Yasuke beyond the game’s epilogue. The expansion will feature new enemies, a unique weapon for Naoe (the Bo staff), and over 10 hours of new gameplay.
Other features teased
- New Game+ mode with an increased level cap
