Asus ROG Ally 2 + Xbox Model Appear Before Launch

A new leak has revealed the existence of two versions of the upcoming Asus ROG Ally 2. This includes what appears to be the long-rumored Xbox model. Photos published through an FCC listing and shared by VideoCardz show a familiar handheld form factor. There are a few notable changes and some implications for Xbox Cloud Gaming.

Seemingly, the Xbox edition of the ROG Ally 2 sports a darker chassis and includes a dedicated Xbox button positioned above the D-pad. This distinguishes it visually from the common white version, which seems to have a standard Home button. This is something that the current ROG Ally lacks. The leak also hints at internal spec differences. The Xbox-branded unit reportedly features a more powerful 8-core, 36W AMD Ryzen Z2 Extreme chip. Meanwhile, the white model features a 4-core, 20W version.

The presence of a dedicated Xbox button isn’t just cosmetic. It signals deeper integration with the Xbox ecosystem, likely including out-of-the-box support for Xbox Game Bar and Xbox Cloud Gaming. If true, this would be a significant shift. It positions the Xbox version of the Ally 2 as a portable alternative to an Xbox Series S for streaming games anywhere. This is especially true when paired with Wi-Fi 6 and fast refresh rates from the 120Hz, 7-inch LCD display.

With the device already undergoing certification, an official announcement seems imminent. Both Microsoft’s Build conference (May 19) and Computex (May 20) are just around the corner. Either could serve as the starting point for this new handheld.
