Atomic Heart 2 Officially Announced at Summer Game Fest 2025

Mundfish has officially revealed Atomic Heart 2 during Summer Game Fest 2025, confirming that the sequel to their alternate-history action RPG is currently in development for PC and consoles. The announcement comes just one week after the studio shared that the original Atomic Heart surpassed 10 million players worldwide.

Set in a dystopian timeline where robotics and AI were once celebrated as humanity’s salvation, the sequel picks up in a world teetering on collapse. Players will navigate a landscape filled with secrets, emerging threats, and a storyline that dives deeper into the mystery of the Atomic Universe.

The debut trailer, backed by Queen’s Don’t Stop Me Now, showcases a new cast, exotic locations, a revamped arsenal, and familiar faces from the first game. The world of Atomic Heart 2 expands the narrative globally, continuing its blend of sci-fi, action, and retrofuturistic aesthetics.

According to Mundfish founder and game director Robert Bagratuni, the project has been in the works for some time. “It’s been hard sitting on this announcement for so long, but today, at Summer Game Fest, we’re incredibly happy to finally and officially announce that Atomic Heart 2 is coming, and it’s bigger and bolder than the original.”

Key features of Atomic Heart 2 include:

  • An expanded RPG system in a living world filled with new activities
  • Dual-wielding combat combining glove-based abilities with a wide range of weapons
  • Enhanced visuals that depict the game’s retrofuturistic dystopia
  • A global narrative with returning and new characters revealing new sides of the story

Atomic Heart 2 does not yet have a release window, but is available to wishlist now on Steam.
