A new trailer breaks down both features and shows more of the world in action. You’ll be able to toggle third-person view with a button press, whether you’re flying, exploring, or fighting. Massive says it has reworked animations, controls, camera angles, and audio to help make third-person feel natural and responsive.
If you missed it, we reviewed Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora and covered what worked and what didn’t in the base game.
Creative director Omar Bouali says the update is also a thank-you to fans: “We’ve always envisioned Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora as a living world that evolves with our players. This update is a celebration of our community’s passion and we’re thankful to our players for their support. It means the world to our team.”
Previous DLC and Improvements in Case You Missed Them
The upcoming update follows several post-launch additions for Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora. Two story packs have already expanded the game’s world. Just note that story content from both packs isn’t available in New Game+, so those need to be played separately from your campaign replay. The Sky Breaker added the Zakru migration and the Great Games, while Secrets of the Spires introduced a new mountainous region designed around high-altitude Banshee flying.
Ubisoft has also rolled out quality-of-life changes since launch. These include a revamped Hunter Guide, better combat balance, and smoother performance in 40fps mode. With third-person and New Game+ now in the mix, there’s a lot more freedom in how you jump back in.
Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora Update Arrives Just in Time for the Next Avatar Movie
The free Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora update launches December 5, just ahead of the new film Avatar: Fire and Ash, which hits theatres December 19. Whether you’re planning a first run or diving back in with New Game+, it might be a good time to return to Pandora.
