Battlefield 6 Release Date and Beta Schedule Confirmed
The Battlefield 6 release date is officially set for October 10, 2025, across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. EA also detailed the game’s open beta, calling it the biggest in the series to date.
The beta will run in three phases:
- August 7–8: Early access for Battlefield Labs members and select streamers
- August 9–10: Open to all players
- August 14–17: Extended open beta weekend
The beta will include several multiplayer modes and maps. EA will share more about specific beta content ahead of the test. EA confirmed the full game will be priced at $70 USD.
Battlefield 6 Maps and Game Modes at Launch
Battlefield 6 will launch with nine multiplayer maps, each designed with specific combat styles and modes in mind. Locations range from deserts to city streets, with several tailored to different scale encounters.
Confirmed maps include:
- Operation Firestorm – A remake of the Battlefield 3 classic
- Gibraltar – Tight, close-quarters engagements
- Egypt – Infantry and land vehicle-focused combat
- Tajikistan – Large-scale battles across mountainous terrain
- Brooklyn – A mix of urban close-range and wide open fights
Additional confirmed maps include Siege of Cairo and Empire State, each built with custom layouts for specific modes. Alongside returning fan favourites like Conquest, Breakthrough, and Rush, several smaller-scale modes were also confirmed:
- Team Deathmatch
- Squad Deathmatch
- Domination
- King of the Hill
- Escalation – A new mode built around capturing control points
Each map supports different objectives and offers destructible terrain that shifts during combat, adding more variety to each match.
Battlefield 6 Classes and Combat Changes
Battlefield 6 brings back the series’ traditional class system, with Assault, Recon, Support, and Engineer roles returning. Each class includes signature weapons, gadgets, and dedicated training perks aimed at pushing team coordination.
Combat is also getting an upgrade with the new Kinesthetic Combat System. This includes:
- Drag and Revive – Pull downed teammates to safety before reviving
- Wall Mounting – Reduce recoil by bracing weapons on surfaces
- Improved movement and gunplay responsiveness
Each class has unique loadouts and gadgets, from Assault’s adrenaline boosts to Recon’s drone recon and laser targeting. These new tools offer more tactical control in squad fights and help balance aggression with support roles. EA also confirmed that destruction is back and bigger than ever, allowing players to create paths, tear down cover, and reshape the battlefield in real time.
Battlefield 6 Portal and Labs Bring Custom Modes and Experiments
Battlefield Portal is back with improved creation tools and new options for building custom multiplayer experiences. EA says the system is now more powerful and streamlined, letting you design and share Community Experiences using content pulled from across the Battlefield series.
Portal supports rulesets, weapons, vehicles, and maps from multiple Battlefield eras. Whether you’re recreating classic matches or trying new combinations, the tools aim to give creators more control than ever before. Portal also features a new “Verified Mode” with preset modifiers like one-shot kills, locked weapons, and full XP gain.
EA also teased a new battle royale-style mode coming to Battlefield Labs, a separate space for limited-time modes and experimental content. The brief footage showed a fire-ring shrink mechanic, similar to Battlefield V’s Firestorm. Details on this new mode will come closer to launch.
Battlefield 6 Single Player Campaign and Story Setup
While multiplayer took the spotlight, today’s showcase also included a glimpse at Battlefield 6’s single player campaign. Set in 2027, the story unfolds after a high-profile assassination fractures global alliances. With NATO weakened, a private military group known as Pax Armata steps in, armed with cutting-edge tech and its own global agenda.
You’ll play as Dagger 13, a squad of US Marine Raiders tasked with stabilizing NATO and countering Pax Armata. The campaign includes intense setpieces and missions that shift perspectives across different squad members, with key characters like CIA agent Mills playing major roles.
EA says the campaign will offer a cinematic, modern warfare experience across global hotspots. This marks the first single player campaign in a mainline Battlefield release since Battlefield V.
Battlefield 6 Development Team and Future Support
Battlefield 6 is being developed by Battlefield Studios, a unified team made up of four EA developers:
- DICE
- Criterion
- Motive Studio
- Ripple Effect
Each studio brings experience from titles like Star Wars Battlefront II, Need for Speed, Dead Space, and Battlefield 2042. The project is led by Vince Zampella, Executive Vice President at EA and co-founder of Respawn.
EA confirmed that post-launch support will include new maps, modes, weapons, and additional content. Regular updates are planned, and the team is positioning Battlefield 6 as a long-term live-service title, with ongoing support planned for both multiplayer and Portal.
