Boosteroid is committed to delivering a seamless and high-fidelity cloud gaming experience for its global community. Recently, they introduced Boostcast. Today, Boosteroid announced the initial rollout of support for the cutting-edge AOMedia Video 1 (AV1) codec. Exclusively available for its flagship Ultra subscription tier.

Enhanced Visuals, Reduced Bandwidth: The Power of AV1

The implementation of AV1 marks a significant step forward in optimizing cloud gaming technology. This advanced codec is renowned for its remarkable ability to preserve exceptional visual fidelity while drastically lowering bandwidth consumption. In comparison to the widely used H.264 codec, AV1 achieves the same or even superior image quality while utilizing up to 50% less bitrate.

This breakthrough translates directly into tangible benefits for our users:

  • Smoother Gameplay: Lower bandwidth requirements contribute to a more stable and responsive gaming experience, minimizing interruptions and lag.
  • Clearer Visuals: Enjoy crisp and detailed graphics, even on internet connections with limited bandwidth.
  • Efficient Data Usage: For users with metered internet plans, AV1 significantly reduces data consumption without compromising visual quality.

Currently, Boosteroid supports AV1 streaming at bitrates up to 40 Mbps. This provides ample capacity for stunning 4K resolution gaming with this efficient codec.

Expanding Accessibility for Diverse Connections

One of the key advantages of AV1 is its potential to democratize high-quality cloud gaming. By requiring less bandwidth to deliver superior image quality compared to older codecs, AV1 makes it easier for players with less consistent or metered internet connections to fully immerse themselves in the Boosteroid experience.

Early Adoption and User Feedback

The integration of AV1 on Boosteroid is currently in its initial phase.

We are actively monitoring user feedback and performance metrics to ensure a stable and premium experience for all Ultra subscribers utilizing this new codec.

For users who prefer the familiar performance of our previous setup, we offer the flexibility to disable AV1 at any time through their account settings. This ensures that every player can tailor their experience to their individual preferences and network conditions.

Looking Ahead: A More Accessible Future for Cloud Gaming

As Boosteroid continues to expand its reach to gamers across diverse geographical regions and internet infrastructure, their focus remains steadfast on meeting the unique needs of each player. The introduction of AV1 support is proof to this commitment, representing a significant stride towards making cloud gaming more accessible, efficient, and ultimately, more enjoyable for everyone.
