Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Multiplayer Beta impressions

Call of Duty Black Ops 6 Multiplayer Beta

This past weekend, I played a lot of the Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 multiplayer beta. Developed by Treyarch and published by Activision, Black Ops 6 improves on previous games while adding new gameplay features. The beta includes various maps and game modes, giving you a chance to try out the game mechanics and strategies before the full launch.

Black Ops 6 aims to shake things up with exciting features, like the new Omnimovement system. This system lets you move smoothly in all directions, improving your gameplay. The Black Ops 6 beta had a mix of familiar and new elements that make this year’s game feel both nostalgic and refreshing. Let’s take a look at what the beta had to offer and some of my early impressions of the game.

A new movement system and a variety of new weapons

One of, if not the biggest new feature in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is the new Omnimovement system. This feature lets you slide, dive, and sprint in any direction, giving you complete freedom of movement. You can now approach corners and obstacles with greater agility, making encounters feel more dynamic and unpredictable.

I was eager to try this out for myself in the Black Ops 6 beta and after a weekend playing the beta, I’m left with mixed feelings about it. To introduce you to the Omnimovement system there is a tutorial that you can play before jumping into a match. There’s definitely a learning curve to using the new movement system that takes time to get used to and master. While I can see the benefits to it, incorporating them into gameplay is a whole other situation. For now, I’m on the fence about it.

The beta also brings a wide variety of weapons, including some that are brand new to the series. Some of the new weapons include the XM4 assault rifle, the Jackal PDW submachine gun, and the SWAT 5.56 marksman rifle. Each weapon feels unique, and I found the gunplay really satisfying. There is a strong sense of impact when you fire. The recoil patterns are well-balanced, making it easier to control your shots during intense battles.

Gameplay modes and maps of the Black Ops 6 beta

Black Ops 6 beta had several game modes. Some of the modes include Team Deathmatch where your goal is to get the most kills. Domination where you must capture and hold objectives. Hardpoint, which focuses on controlling specific areas of the map. And, my favourite, Kill Order. In this new gameplay mode you must identify and eliminate a designated High Value Target from the opposing team. I really enjoyed this mode because it adds a fresh strategic element to the gameplay. You’re focused on specific objectives rather than just general combat, which was super fun.

The beta had a variety of maps, each with its own style and layout. Derelict is a post-apocalyptic train graveyard, filled with thick vegetation and narrow paths. This map encourages stealthy tactics and ambushes. Scud is an open map featuring a massive structure, perfect for long-range shooting and sniping. Skyline, my personal favourite, takes place on a fancy rooftop environment with a central pool, ideal for vertical gameplay and quick movements.

Rewind transports you to a retro shopping mall, offering both long sightlines and tight spaces. This map encourages a blend of close-quarters combat and strategic positioning. Lastly, Babylon is a small map designed for fast-paced action that requires quick reflexes and agility.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 multiplayer beta left a strong positive impression on me

After spending the weekend with the Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 multiplayer beta, it left a strong positive impression on me. The game already feels extremely polished. One standout feature, which I am still a bit iffy on, is the new Omnimovement system. While I can see how this innovative mechanic adds fluidity and depth to gameplay, its learning curve is pretty steep and implementing it into gameplay is a whole other story.

The beta offers a variety of maps, each with unique layouts and tactical opportunities. Kill Order was my favourite gameplay mode. It felt fresh and new, giving you something to focus on rather than just the amount of kills. I also found the gunplay satisfying, with a good mix of weapon options and responsive mechanics. Looking ahead to Call of Duty Black Ops 6’s full release on October 25 I think there’s a lot to be excited about. More maps and modes will be available for launch and Treyarch’s promise of improvements based on player feedback shows dedication.
