Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 Officially Announced, Launching Day One on Game Pass

The next chapter in the Black Ops series has been confirmed. Activision has officially revealed Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, developed by Treyarch and Raven Software, and set for release later this year. The game will be available on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and PC (via Battle.net, Xbox PC, and Steam). It will also launch day one on Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass.

Set in the year 2035, Black Ops 7 picks up more than 40 years after the events of Black Ops 6, continuing the narrative established in Black Ops 2. The story sees David Mason and his team fighting back against a world spiraling into chaos, gripped by psychological warfare and a manipulative enemy that weaponizes fear.

This marks the first time Activision is releasing two Black Ops entries consecutively. Matt Cox, General Manager of Call of Duty, emphasized the creative direction: “Our vision from the start was to create a back-to-back series experience for our players that embraced the uniqueness of the Black Ops sub-franchise.”

Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 First Details

  • A new co-op campaign set in a near-future warzone
  • Competitive multiplayer with new maps and futuristic weaponry
  • A fresh round-based Zombies chapter set within the Dark Aether storyline

According to Tyler Bahl, Head of Activision Publishing Marketing, the shift to a futuristic setting opens new creative opportunities for both storytelling and promotion. “Delivering consecutive Black Ops games also allows our teams the tremendous opportunity to tap not only into our own creativity but also embrace the shift from a ’90s setting to the new 2035 future setting.”
