The popular horror game Dead by Daylight has introduced a new chapter featuring characters from the iconic Castlevania series. This latest update, Dead by Daylight: Castlevania, adds a new Killer, known as The Dark Lord, and a new Survivor, Trevor Belmont, to the game.
This update marks the second collaboration between Dead by Daylight and Konami. Castlevania, a franchise with a nearly 40-year history, has been integrated into the game with careful attention to detail. The teams from both Dead by Daylight and Konami expressed mutual admiration for each other’s work and emphasized the importance of preserving the essence of Castlevania in this new chapter.
New Gameplay Features
The Dark Lord, modeled after the infamous Dracula, introduces a unique gameplay mechanic: shapeshifting. Players can switch between three different forms, each offering distinct abilities:
- Vampire Form: Dracula’s base form allows players to unleash an attack called Hellfire, sending flames forward that can penetrate obstacles.
- Wolf Form: In this third-person perspective mode, Dracula excels in tracking Survivors, with enhanced visibility of clues left behind and a powerful Pounce Attack.
- Bat Form: Offering increased mobility and stealth, this form enables Dracula to teleport and move undetected, though it comes with limitations on visual detection of Survivors.
The Dark Lord’s finishing move, or Mori, is particularly brutal, showcasing Dracula’s disdain for humanity as he ends a Survivor’s life with a razor-sharp fingernail before drinking their blood.
Introducing Trevor Belmont
The new Survivor, Trevor Belmont, continues his battle against Dracula within the Dead by Daylight universe. Belmont comes with three unique perks designed to aid players in their survival:
- Eyes of Belmont: Reveals the Killer’s Aura when a Generator is completed, with an extended duration for better tracking.
- Exultation: Upgrades a held item after stunning a Killer with a Pallet.
- Moment of Glory: Activates after searching through chests, allowing players to heal after becoming Broken.
Cosmetic Additions
Alongside the new characters, a range of cosmetic items is available, allowing players to customize their experience with outfits inspired by various characters from the Castlevania series. These include Very Rare Outfits for Trevor Belmont and Legendary Outfits, such as one for Alucard from Symphony of the Night. Additional outfits inspired by Sypha Belnades and Maria Renard will be released on September 12th.
