Cloud Gaming to Dominate Within a Decade, Says Boosteroid CEO

Boosteroid

Boosteroid is constantly adding new games to the library. As well as increasing the “Install and Play” library all whilst operating in a country at war. The service is expanding constantly and we love to see the passion the team at Boosteroid have for cloud gaming. CEO Ivan Shvaichenko, in an interview with dev.ua, predicts a seismic shift in the gaming landscape, stating that

“within 7–10 years, about 90% of players in the world will use cloud gaming.”

Highlighting the Ukrainian market, Shvaichenko noted the significant adoption of cloud gaming, with “about 455,000 players of the Boosteroid cloud platform are Ukrainians who have joined it from different parts of the world.” He emphasized that the primary requirement for users, even those with basic laptops, is “a stable Internet connection,” which unlocks access to demanding AAA games.

Lowering Barriers and Changing Habits

Boosteroid’s partnership with Ukrtelecom aims to fuse reliable high-speed internet with advanced streaming. Shvaichenko explained that cloud gaming “primarily lowers the barrier to entry,” eliminating the need for constant hardware upgrades and reshaping gamers’ spending habits. The accessibility across devices – “laptop, smartphone, TV, tablet, or even in the car” – is also transforming gaming habits, leading to more frequent play in diverse situations. Furthermore, players experience greater freedom in their game choices, no longer constrained by their device’s limitations.

Technical Requirements for Optimal Cloud Gaming

Regarding technical aspects, Shvaichenko recommended a “minimum recommended internet connection speed is 15 Mbps,” advising higher speeds for enhanced visual fidelity. Low latency is critical, with sub-20ms being imperceptible and comfortable play achievable up to 45ms. While latency might be higher in regions without local servers, Shvaichenko affirmed that “cloud gaming remains quite possible and allows you to play on any device.”

Future Expansion in Ukraine

Looking forward, Boosteroid is actively exploring collaborations with Ukrainian internet service providers and intends to bolster its server infrastructure within the country. Shvaichenko announced their work on “a new server architecture, which should become the new global quality standard in the field of cloud gaming.”

Global Expansion and Infrastructure Upgrades

Beyond Ukraine, Boosteroid is actively adding servers to new countries worldwide. Simultaneously, the company is committed to continuously upgrading its hardware infrastructure in existing territories. This ongoing investment ensures a higher quality and more reliable streaming experience for all users, regardless of their location.

Minimal Hardware Requirements

Shvaichenko states the minimal hardware demands for Boosteroid users: “If the device can run YouTube in Full HD without any problems, in most cases it will also allow you to play comfortably through Boosteroid.” The essential element remains “a stable Internet connection,” as all intensive processing occurs on Boosteroid’s powerful servers.
