In a surprise move, Hideo Kojima’s enigmatic open-world adventure, Death Stranding Director’s Cut, has made its way to Xbox Series X|S and Luna+. Previously a PlayStation console exclusive, though it was on PC Game Pass. The game has now expanded its reach to Microsoft’s ecosystem, offering Xbox Play Anywhere support. As well as Amazon Luna by way of the Luna+ subscription.
This unexpected port marks a significant shift for the franchise. Kojima Productions, in partnership with 505 Games, has secured full rights to Death Stranding. Opening doors to potential future instalments on Xbox platforms. And maybe, this will be one of the games that supports Xbox’s cloud gaming for owned games.
Death No Longer Stranded
Hideo Kojima’s mind-bending creation, Death Stranding, is an open-world game that defies traditional gaming norms. Set in a post-apocalyptic America ravaged by supernatural phenomena, the game blends elements of stealth, exploration, and social interaction.
Players take on the role of Sam Porter Bridges, a deliveryman tasked with reconnecting a fractured nation. Armed with a variety of futuristic gadgets, Sam must navigate treacherous terrain. Avoid deadly creatures known as BTs, and deliver vital supplies to isolated communities.
The game’s unique selling point is its emphasis on asynchronous multiplayer. Players can encounter the remnants of other players’ journeys, such as structures, ladders, and roads. By contributing to the world, players can help each other and foster a sense of community.
Death Stranding DIRECTOR’S CUT on Xbox Series X|S and Windows PC includes High Frame Rate, Photo Mode and Ultra-wide Monitor support. Also includes cross-over content from Valve Corporation’s HALF-LIFE series and CD Projekt Red’s Cyberpunk 2077.
To celebrate the game’s arrival on Xbox, a deep sale is currently underway. Making it an opportune time to experience the unique and divisive title.
