DOOM + DOOM II Get Major Update!

Covers of DOOM and DOOM II showcase thrilling action scenes with futuristic soldiers clashing against demons, set beneath a menacing DOOM cloud.

Good news for DOOM fans! Update 3 for DOOM and DOOM II is now live. It brings exciting new content and many fixes. Modding has also received significant attention. This is just in time to play before the next big DOOM title, DOOM: The Dark Ages releases next month. Game Pass Ultra adds all of these updates to the cloud.

SIGIL II Now Official

SIGIL II is now part of the main game. Find it in the game select menu at startup. Note that old modded saves won’t work with this new version. The old modded version will stay online for current users. SIGIL II is the direct follow-up from id co-founder John Romero. It launched on DOOM’s 30th anniversary. This brings a new nine-map episode to the original DOOM. More than just a sequel in name, SIGIL II builds on unique elements from the first SIGIL. Players will again need to shoot switches within dangerous areas to progress. The design and feel are like an enhanced SIGIL. Romero has clearly found his stride again in creating classic DOOM gameplay.

Mod Improvements

It’s now easier to join modded games. If you don’t have a required mod, you’ll be sent to the Mods page.

Key Fixes

Several crashes have been resolved. The update fixes crashes that could occur with the automap. It also resolves sound issues with ceilings on certain DOOM II and TNT maps. It also fixes a multiplayer crash in BTSX Episode 2. Downloading or deleting many mods at once should no longer cause crashes. Custom menu logos now show correctly when playing mods.

Mod Compatibility Enhanced

The update addresses some mod compatibility problems. A crash caused by zero-length sounds is fixed. Fast doors in Boom or MBF mods will no longer make double sounds.
