Early Access Arrives on Xbox Cloud Gaming

Xbox Cloud Gaming has added a new feature: you can now play games early! This is something many cloud gamers wanted. Before, if a game had an “early access” period (where you could play it before it fully came out), you couldn’t play it on cloud gaming. This caused some upset, especially when the game Avowed released in early access and wasn’t playable on Xbox Cloud Gaming, but was on GeForce Now. Microsoft has now fixed this problem and announced that early access arrives on Xbox.

South of Midnight Starts Things Off

The first game you can play early on Xbox Cloud is South of Midnight. If you have the purchased the Premium Upgrade (only a £10/$10 upgrade), you can play it 5 days before the official release date. This is great for people who don’t have powerful computers or consoles. Now, anyone with an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription can play these games early. Early access arrives on Xbox, meaning you can play on phones, tablets, and even older laptops. This lets you play new games anywhere, and you get to play them sooner than most people.

A Step Towards Equal Gaming

It is good to see Microsoft adding feature parity to Xbox cloud gaming. Adding early access to Xbox Cloud means Microsoft wants everyone to have the same gaming experience, no matter how they play. This change makes cloud gaming more like playing on a console or PC. Being able to play South of Midnight early on the cloud shows that cloud gaming is getting better and better. With early access arriving on Xbox, soon, everyone will be able to play games the same way, no matter what device they use.
