So What’s Happened?:

Mike Verdu who helped create Netflix Games in 2021 took on a new role as VP of Generative AI for Netflix Games last July. In doing this Mike Verdu passed the reigns of Netflix Games to former Epic Games executive Alain Tascan. Mike Verdu told his peers to “pay no mind to uninformed speculation in the media about changes at Netflix Games”, this was all part of the planned “transition” in leadership for Netflix Games. Many developers will be happy by this news as Generative AI is looked down upon in the gaming industry with many publishers like Activision getting flamed by fans for AI artwork used in Call Of Duty Black Ops 6.

Netflix Games has had an interesting couple of months with layoffs and a studio closure, alongside signing a deal to create an exclusive game with Silent Hill 2 Remake developers Bloober Team. Netflix has been trying to optimise their gaming business and has also cancelled a number of games that were planned for release on their platform including The Lord Of The Rings: Tales Of The Shire.
