Galaxies Showcase Recap: RuneScape: Dragonwilds, FBC: Firebreak, Painkiller Revival, and Shadow Drops Lead the Way

The first-ever Galaxies Showcase aired earlier today on Twitch, packing over 40 games into a fast-paced one-hour stream. Hosted by Jane Douglas, the event featured new reveals, world premieres, and a few surprise shadow drops. From major announcements like RuneScape: Dragonwilds and FBC: Firebreak to the unexpected return of Painkiller, the showcase delivered a wide mix of genres and studios—big and small—aiming to catch your eye in 2025 and beyond.

Here’s a look at some of the biggest reveals from the show.

Major Highlights from the Showcase

RuneScape: Dragonwilds opened the showcase with a new look at Jagex’s survival crafting game set in the RuneScape universe. Set on the forgotten continent of Ashenfall, you’ll gather resources, build with friends, and take on deadly dragons—all while uncovering the secrets behind the Dragon Queen.

Remedy Entertainment followed with new gameplay from FBC: Firebreak, a three-player co-op shooter set within the Control universe. You play as agents from the Federal Bureau of Control, using paranatural powers to fight back against a supernatural invasion of The Oldest House.

Covenant, the debut title from Legion Studios, blends magic, martial arts, and first-person combat in a dark fantasy setting. Developed by veterans of Halo and Destiny, the game features both campaign and multiplayer modes in a connected world.

Painkiller is officially back. Saber Interactive is reviving the cult-classic FPS with modern visuals, four playable characters, and fast-paced co-op action. The trailer teased tarot card power-ups, hordes of demons, and plenty of over-the-top weapons. It’s set to launch this fall.

Also shown was Deliver at All Costs, a chaotic courier adventure from KONAMI and Far Out Games. Set in 1959, the game lets you wreck everything in your path as you deliver mysterious packages across a world teetering on the edge of disaster. It launches May 22.

The showcase also featured four shadow drops:

  • A free demo for UNBEATABLE
  • The full release of Bionic Bay
  • Golf Gambit, a trap-filled party mini-golf game
  • Neighbors: Suburban Warfare, a co-op team battle game set in suburbia

Publisher Spotlights

Team 17 brought a trio of wildly different projects to the showcase. Wraith Ops, developed with Grassrootz Studio, is a fast-paced FPS with objective-based missions and a focus on teamwork. Sintopia takes a stranger turn, blending god-game mechanics and ‘80s-inspired chaos in a sim about punishing sinful chickpeas. Rounding out the lineup is Nice Day for Fishing, an RPG adventure starring a humble NPC fisherman turned unlikely hero.

Kepler Interactive showcased a mix of action, storytelling, and platforming. Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 revealed a new lore trailer ahead of its April 24 launch. Windblown, from the makers of Dead Cells, showed off a new playable biome coming to its Early Access version. Neon Abyss 2 confirmed a July 17 Early Access date, while Bionic Bay shadow dropped during the event with its physics-driven platforming available immediately.

Saber Interactive delivered some of the showcase’s flashier segments. In addition to Painkiller, they spotlighted The Knightling, a fantasy adventure where you wield a legendary shield and explore the world of Clesseia. A free demo is available now on Steam, with full release planned for August 28. They also gave a new look at Tempest Rising, an RTS inspired by classics from the ‘90s. The game launches April 24, with early access for Deluxe Edition pre-orders starting today.

Indie and Horror Highlights

The showcase didn’t just focus on big names. Indie teams brought some of the most original ideas to the stream.

Asuka: The Ascent debuted with a first look at its high-speed street racing across Japan’s mountain passes. MoJu Studios is combining racing with a single-player story, full of mystery and manga-inspired flair.

On the horror side, lily’s world XD stood out with its unsettling computer-based mystery set during the early days of the internet. Video Ghastlies promises retro scares set in 1990s Scotland, while Hear Tell of Hauntings leans into western survival horror with ghost hunting and frontier-era weapons.

Other indies also got their moment. PowerWash Simulator 2 gave a look at what’s coming in its sequel, LAPD 2195 returned as a modern co-op take on Future Cop L.A.P.D., and UNBEATABLE surprised viewers with a demo drop—letting you try its rhythm-based narrative adventure right away.

It was a good reminder that smaller projects are still where some of the most creative ideas live.

A Showcase Full of Surprises

The first Galaxies Showcase packed a lot into its one-hour format, delivering new reveals, gameplay, and surprises across a wide range of genres. From AAA studios like Remedy and Saber Interactive to smaller teams working on niche projects, the event balanced familiar names with new ideas.

Whether it was RuneScape shifting to survival gameplay, Painkiller making a comeback, or indie games tackling horror in strange ways, the variety was hard to miss. The shadow drops added an extra layer of fun, giving viewers a few things to try right away.
