Card-slinging roguelike sensation Balatro has dealt a winning hand to Xbox Game Pass subscribers, launching on the service alongside a brand-new, blockbuster-packed DLC. Developer Local Thunk’s critically acclaimed title, which has taken the gaming world by storm, is now readily available for Game Pass members, bringing with it a fresh wave of cosmetic card skins featuring iconic characters from some of gaming’s biggest franchises.
Announced during Microsoft’s recent ID@Xbox showcase, Balatro’s arrival on Game Pass is accompanied by the “Friends of Jimbo Pack 4” DLC. This expansion takes a decidedly more mainstream approach to collaborations, shifting from the game’s previous indie-focused partnerships to include heavy hitters like Fallout, Assassin’s Creed, and Dead by Daylight.
This star-studded collection of cosmetic card backs adds a new layer of personalization to Balatro’s already addictive gameplay. The “Friends of Jimbo Pack 4” is available right now on all platforms, allowing players to instantly inject some familiar flair into their runs.
Balatro’s journey to Game Pass comes almost a year after its initial launch on Xbox, PC, PlayStation, and Nintendo Switch. Since then, the game has achieved remarkable success, selling over five million copies. And nominations for Game of the Year. This feat is particularly impressive considering the initial controversy surrounding its 18+ age rating.
However, good news for European players: the game’s rating is finally being overturned in the EU and replaced with a more accessible PEGI 12 rating. This change reflects the game’s strategic depth and engaging gameplay, rather than any explicit content.
