Playing cloud games (including the latest AAA titles) on a mobile phone or tablet is a pretty cool experience that provides a lot of convenience/portability. There are a lot of controllers that can attach to a phone, e.g. the Razer Kishi, to turn to your iPhone or Android Phone into a Nintendo Switch like device.
One thing that has always been a little clunky though is using the default overlayed touch-controller on a mobile device. Most cloud gaming services will offer to overlay virtual a,b,x,y,joysticks, triggers etc. on the screen when playing. However, as you can imagine, they don’t give you the same experience/feel as using a real physical controller. For bonafide mobile games, users are typically instead used to controlling the action with touch gestures like swiping, taps, pinching, two-finger scrolling etc. Thankfully, cloud gaming services (GFN, Xbox Cloud Gaming, Luna etc.) have begun adding support for these types of touch controls for cloud games as well!
GeForce Now just announced 13 new games getting enhanced controls in today’s official blog post. These games now include the following:
Mobile and Tablet
- Fortnite (Epic Games)
- Genshin Impact (HoYoverse)
- Trine 2: Complete Story (Steam)
- Slay the Spire (Steam)
- Dota Underlords (Steam)
- Into the Breach (Steam and Epic Games)
- Papers, Please (Steam)
- Tabletop Simulator (Steam)
Tablet Only
- March of Empires (Steam)
- Door Kickers (Steam)
- Bridge Constructor Portal (Steam)
- Shadowrun Returns (Steam and Epic Games)
- Monster Train (Steam)
- Talisman: Digital Edition (Steam)
- Magic: The Gathering Arena (Wizards.com and Epic Games)
It is a bit curious that some of the games only support touch controls on tablets at the moment. We assume that this is related to the quality of the experience. Either way, it is great to see more GeForce Now games getting enhanced touch controls.
Glad to see many good games that benefit from it.
