Genshin Impact Version 5.7 Arrives June 18 with Skirk’s Debut and New Story Chapter

HoYoverse has announced that Genshin Impact Version 5.7, “A Space and Time for You,” launches on June 18. The update introduces two new playable characters, continues the Traveler twins’ story, and adds several new features across combat, events, and system improvements.

Skirk finally becomes playable as a dual-style Cryo sword user, joined by Dahlia, a new Hydro support. The update also includes a new Archon Quest chapter, a rotating boss mode, and a tactical event in Sumeru.

Here’s a closer look at everything coming in Genshin Impact on June 18.

New Characters: Skirk and Dahlia Join the Fight

Version 5.7 marks the long-awaited debut of Skirk as a playable character. Known as Childe’s former master, Skirk is a 5-star Cryo sword user with two distinct fighting styles. She can switch between sustained damage with enhanced Normal Attacks and a powerful AoE Elemental Burst. Instead of using Elemental Energy, her abilities rely on a unique resource called Serpent’s Subtlety.

Skirk also benefits from team compositions that include both Hydro and Cryo characters, gaining bonus damage and boosting Elemental Skills.

Dahlia also joins the lineup as a new 4-star Hydro support. As the deacon of the Church of Favonius, Dahlia offers shields with his Elemental Burst, buffs allies’ attack speed, and can deal Hydro damage or launch teammates into the air using his Elemental Skill.

Event Wishes: Skirk, Dahlia, and Returning Favourites

Version 5.7 introduces two new characters through limited-time Event Wishes. In the first phase, you’ll have the chance to pull Skirk, a 5-star Cryo sword user, and Dahlia, a new 4-star Hydro support. Shenhe, another Cryo 5-star character, also returns during this phase.

The second half of the update brings back the Pyro Archon Mavuika and Emilie. These reruns offer more options for players looking to strengthen specific elemental teams or pick up characters they may have missed.

With a mix of new abilities and team synergies, both phases of the Version 5.7 banners aim to give you more flexibility when building your party.

Archon Quest and Story Events: Traveler Twins, Dainsleif, and Lighthearted Tales

The next chapter of the Archon Quest picks up after “Bedtime Story” and continues the Traveler twins’ arc. The Abyss Order begins moving in Natlan, revealing more of your sibling’s plan. Mavuika and her allies prepare for the conflict ahead, while Dainsleif returns in a new form to fight alongside you.

Outside the main questline, “Travelers’ Tales: Gilded Chapter” offers a change of pace with lighter stories across Teyvat. You’ll see Thoma back in Mondstadt, Neuvillette visiting Merusea Village, and Dori attempting a business deal with Sayu in Inazuma.

These events add more context to the world and give you a short break from the main story.

New Modes and Events: Stygian Onslaught and Sumeru’s Tactical Adventure

Version 5.7 adds a new permanent combat mode called Stygian Onslaught. This boss challenge features three rotating enemies and six levels of difficulty. Clearing trials earns rewards like Artifacts and a new item, Dust of Enlightenment, which lets you re-roll minor affixes on level 20 Artifacts.

A limited-time event from the Sumeru Akademiya also joins the lineup. This tactical mini-game blends team-building with light randomness. You’ll choose different paths, rainforest or desert, while managing characters called Companion Pieces and dealing with surprise events. Before each run, you can complete prep stages where Paimon collects fruit to gain buffs.

Finishing the event lets you invite Sethos to your party.

Gameplay Optimizations and QoL Updates

Version 5.7 includes a few useful system changes. You can now use Fragile Resin to claim triple rewards from Ley Line Blossoms and standard challenge Domains, including Artifact and Talent Material Domains.

On mobile, Genshin Impact will offer more resource download options based on your progress and preferences. This should help manage storage and performance across different devices. New Envisaged Echoes challenges are also on the way, featuring Raiden Shogun and Shenhe.

Nod-Krai Teaser “Prelude to Moonlight” Hints at What’s Next

Alongside the Genshin Impact Version 5.7 announcement, HoYoverse has released a new teaser titled Prelude to Moonlight. This short preview focuses on Nod-Krai and sets the stage for what could be coming in a future update. The teaser doesn’t reveal much, but it highlights new characters and scenery that suggest another major shift in the ongoing story.

While Version 5.7 brings the spotlight to Skirk and the Traveler’s journey in Natlan, this teaser points to what may lie ahead in Genshin Impact’s expanding world. It’s a quiet but intriguing piece of the puzzle, arriving just as the Abyss Order begins to move.
