Kwalee and Clover Bite have released a new gameplay trailer for Grime II, the follow-up to the 2021 action-adventure metroidvania Grime. It introduces new abilities, weapons, and mold summons while offering a glimpse at the game’s harsh, surreal world.
Grime II is set to launch on PC via Steam in 2025. The trailer also hints at a more flexible and chaotic approach to combat and exploration.
Inside the World of Grime II
In Grime II, you play as a Formless,. A living weapon able to absorb enemies and reshape them into powerful mold summons. These molds serve different functions in combat, from throwing enemies and firing projectiles to stunning foes or acting as temporary allies. The new trailer highlights several of these options, giving a better sense of how you’ll be able to mix styles and tactics.
The sequel takes place in a new land within the Grime universe. It’s a world filled with unusual environments, including places made of painted nails and giant vases. These locations each have their own culture and characters, adding more variety to your journey through its interconnected world.
The trailer also shows off environmental combat, where you can use the surroundings to damage enemies. But you’ll need to be just as cautious. Enemies can use the environment against you too. The Parry and Grasp system lets you send out hand-tendrils to block attacks or pull enemies in to absorb their form.
