Highscore, the upcoming cloud gaming service which will let you play any and all of your steam games. The team at Highscore just officially announced the alpha release for the service is coming “this Fall.” That’s as precise a date as we have right now. But, it does mean we should be seeing the service launch between September and December 2024.
We recently did a Q&A with Highscore’s founder and discussed a lot of the interesting features of the service like virtual couch support (think Luna couch) and cloud based suspend and resume.
Highscore created a new video for the analysis. You can check out the video at Highscore’s YouTube account.
While an “alpha” release may seem like a ways away from production quality, we like the idea of using “alpha” and “beta” labels for new offerings. While the service will likely be fully usable to those near initial server locations, it will almost certainly be in a constant stage of update and upgrade. Had Google Stadia used one of these labels when it released, we think it could have helped properly set expectations for the service.
