Honkai: Star Rail x Fate/stay night Crossover Announced, New Honkai Game Also Teased

A month after celebrating its second anniversary, Honkai: Star Rail is back with another big surprise: a crossover with Fate/stay night [Unlimited Blade Works]. The crossover event—titled “Sweet Dreams and the Holy Grail”—was announced during the game’s global concert. It brings new story content, limited-time events, and a free 5-star Archer to your team starting July 11.

If you’ve been keeping up with Star Rail’s recent updates, this marks a quick follow-up to Version 3.2’s anniversary patch. That update brought new characters, storylines, and the massive global concert event. You can catch up on everything from Version 3.2 in our recap here.

As someone who never expected to see Fate/stay night in a HoYoverse game, I was honestly shocked — in a good way. It’s not every day you log in for Stellar Jades and end up pulling Archer.

Now, the spotlight shifts to this unusual crossover, where two very different worlds collide. From Archer’s addition to the roster to the reveal of a new Honkai IP during the concert, here’s what’s coming next.

Fate/stay night Crossover Brings Archer, Saber, and a New Story Event

Here’s what to expect from the collaboration event and who you’ll be able to recruit. The Honkai: Star Rail x Fate stay night crossover kicks off July 11 with a limited-time story event titled “Sweet Dreams and the Holy Grail.” The event introduces Archer and Saber as new 5-star playable characters. And, best of all, Archer is available for free just by logging in during the event.

The story follows a dreamlike encounter between Trailblazers and characters from Fate/stay night [Unlimited Blade Works], as realities start to blur. Full details are still under wraps. However, the trailer hints at familiar faces, original voice acting, and new event stages inspired by the Fate universe.

This makes it one of HoYoverse’s most ambitious crossovers yet. According to HoYoverse, the crossover is built as a standalone story. So, even if you’re not a Fate/stay night fan, you’ll still be able to follow along and enjoy the event.

A New Honkai Game Is in Development

Toward the end of the concert, HoYoverse surprised fans with a brief teaser. It confirmed a new Honkai game is in development. While the trailer didn’t include gameplay or a title, it hinted at a lighter tone. It also suggested the next installment could explore new worlds and stories of both the Star Rail universe and the Honkai Impact universe.

This marks the latest expansion for the Honkai series, which now spans multiple genres and platforms. The series includes the action-driven Honkai Impact 3rd and the turn-based Star Rail. The teaser included voiceover lines that seemed to reference themes of dreaming, resistance, and the pursuit of something eternal. This could be setting up a new narrative direction for the franchise.

No platforms or release window were announced, but given the timing and the nature of the reveal, it’s likely still in early development.

Personally, I wasn’t expecting this announcement at all. Between the Star Rail anniversary, the Fate/stay night crossover, and the concert itself, a full new Honkai project was the last thing I thought would show up—and now I can’t stop wondering where they’ll take it next.

A Crossover Worth Celebrating

The Honkai: Star Rail x Fate/stay night crossover feels like a true milestone for both series. Seeing Saber and Archer not only join the game, but bring new story content, combat animations, and fan-favorite references, makes this a collaboration that goes beyond a simple cameo.

It’s also a smart way to bring Fate fans into the Honkai universe—especially with Archer available for free during the event. For longtime Honkai players, the mix of Holy Grail lore and Star Rail’s sci-fi backdrop opens up new possibilities, while Fate fans get a chance to explore a different kind of turn-based RPG.

We’ll have full coverage when “Sweet Dreams and the Holy Grail” begins on July 11. Until then, stay tuned for more HoYoverse updates, and let us know: are you more excited for Saber or Archer?
