Hyperkin, a company specialising in video game peripherals, has announced a new PS5-style game controller compatible with Xbox consoles.
‘The Competitor‘ is very much in the mould of the PS5 Dualsense controller with its symmetrical stick layout. It will also feature hall effect sticks, which are less prone to stick drift, and hall effect triggers. There will also be two remappable buttons on the rear of the controller.
Similarities to an Xbox controller are the ABXY button layout as well as the pause and menu buttons. Interestingly, it also features a microphone button that is located between the thumbsticks.
It will come in two colours, white & black and all black. What might be a small downside for some is the fact that it is a wired controller.
Hyperkin has not shared a release date or a price point for ‘The Competitor‘ but hopefully these details won’t be too long in being revealed.
As someone who is in the minority of preferring the PS5 controller over the Xbox controller, I will certainly welcome this addition to my Xbox setup!
