Jagex Announces RuneScape: Dragonwilds, a New Open-World Survival Game

RuneScape: Dragonwilds

Jagex has announced RuneScape: Dragonwilds, a new survival and crafting game set in the RuneScape universe. This title, launching in Early Access in Spring 2025, will take players to the forgotten continent of Ashenfall, where they must gather resources, build, and master magic to survive.

Developed with Unreal Engine 5, the game blends epic fantasy elements with light RPG and cooperative survival mechanics. Players can embark on the adventure solo or in groups of up to four, exploring this new land, uncovering ancient secrets, and facing iconic RuneScape creatures.

One of the standout mechanics of RuneScape: Dragonwilds is the power of Anima, a magical energy that allows players to use special abilities, such as summoning spectral axes to chop trees instantly or repairing broken armor using nature’s energy. Additionally, the game features a unique progression system that unlocks new spells, crafting recipes, and abilities as players advance.

According to Jagex CEO Jon Bellamy, the development of RuneScape: Dragonwilds has incorporated community feedback from the early stages, including closed alpha tests with select players. The goal is to create an experience that fits naturally within the RuneScape universe and appeals to both longtime fans and newcomers.

Players can already add the game to their Steam wishlist to stay updated on its development. Additionally, Jagex will host a live stream on Twitch on April 15 at 17:00 BST to showcase more details about the game.
