SEGA and ATLUS have announced that JOKER, the iconic protagonist from Persona 5, will be available from the start of Persona5: The Phantom X when the game launches on June 26, 2025, for PC and mobile.
To mark the occasion, a special Persona 5-themed event will also be available in-game. This original event will include appearances from the Phantom Thieves of Hearts, with new story content tied directly to the world of P5X.
Alongside the announcement, voice actor Jun Fukuyama, who voices JOKER, shared a celebratory video where he tried out the game, explored the city, and reflected on what it felt like to return to the role almost a decade after the original release of Persona 5. He walked through familiar areas like Yongen-Jaya and Leblanc, admired the updated visuals, and commented on new interactive elements like crafting, gacha pulls, and customizable outfits.
The video also showed just how closely the crossover ties into the game’s main story. Fukuyama confirmed that this isn’t just a guest appearance, JOKER and the other Phantom Thieves will be an integral part of the experience. He also teased mystery elements tied to new characters like Wonder, and noted that fans of Persona 5 will feel right at home, while newcomers will find plenty to discover.
Fukuyama ended by encouraging fans to enjoy the game on either platform, whether they’re playing on the go or relaxing at home. Currently, Persona5: The Phantom X has already surpassed 1.5 million pre-registrations.
