Kingdom Come: Deliverance II Adds Hardcore Mode

Kingdom Come Deliverance II Hardcore Mode

Deep Silver and Warhorse Studios have released a Hardcore Mode for Kingdom Come: Deliverance II, offering players a significantly more demanding way to experience medieval Bohemia. The new mode strips away several modern features and introduces permanent negative elements, reshaping how players engage with the open world.

In Hardcore Mode, players no longer have a compass or visible map marker. Fast travel is also disabled, meaning all navigation must be done manually, relying on environmental cues or asking NPCs for directions. At the beginning of a Hardcore playthrough, players must choose at least three drawbacks, such as:

  • Bad Back: Reduced carrying capacity
  • Somnambulant: Risk of waking up in random places
  • Hungry Henry: Increased need for food

These traits, combined with the lack of navigational aids, emphasize immersion and survival, evolving the original Hardcore Mode from the first game. According to Warhorse Studios’ senior game designer Karel Kolmann, the goal was to improve upon the previous version while introducing new elements.

“It’s not just about making the game harder, it’s about making it more immersive,” Kolmann explained. Players will now be able to ask NPCs and travelers for directions as a way to orient themselves within the world.

Alongside the update, Warhorse Studios has also launched the Gallant Huntsman Kit as a standalone DLC. Previously available only with the Gold Edition, this cosmetic set equips Henry with themed hunting attire and gear, including:

  • St. Hubert’s hat
  • Master huntsman’s hood, hose, gloves, and boots
  • Nimrod’s coat
  • Artemis’ crossbow and 30 hunting bolts

The Gallant Huntsman Kit is now available for purchase on all platforms.
