A recent post on the Chinese social media platform Rednote, as reported by a Famiboards user, has sparked interest among Nintendo gamers. Lexar has officially revealed the Lexar PLAY PRO microSD Express coming this February. What’s interesting is that the ad states this as a “NS 2 must-have”.
The announcement highlights several key features that promise to significantly enhance the gaming experience on the Nintendo Switch 2.
Performance and Storage for the Nintendo Switch 2
The Lexar PLAY PRO microSD Express offers 900MB/s read speeds and 600MB/s write speeds. This results in quicker game loading times and more responsive gameplay. The faster write speed also means you can download large AAA games in under 10 minutes. This offers a significant improvement over traditional microSD cards.
For context, the current Nintendo Switch supports microSD, microSDHC (up to 32GB), and microSDXC (64GB and above) cards. These cards typically offer read speeds of 20-95 MB/s. In comparison, the Lexar PLAY PRO microSD Express is much faster than traditional microSD cards. These new Express cards also offer larger storage capacities.
With 1TB of space, the Lexar PLAY PRO can store up to 100 games, providing more than enough room for an expanding game library.
A Step Closer to the Nintendo Switch 2’s Launch
Although Lexar’s post doesn’t talk about a release date for the Nintendo Switch 2, it suggests we won’t have much longer to wait. As more details surface about the Switch 2, accessories like the Lexar PLAY PRO will become essential. They will help you get the most out of the new hardware.
