Major Reveals from the Little Nightmares Showcase

Two childlike characters stand together in a dark, eerie setting with "Little Nightmares III" above them.

Bandai Namco just pulled back the curtain on what’s next for Little Nightmares. Today’s Little Nightmares Showcase delivered a mix of major reveals and new projects for fans of the series. From a firm release date for Little Nightmares III to transmedia expansions like an enhanced edition, a novel, and even VR, there’s a lot on the way.

The showcase also marked a milestone for the series, celebrating 10 years since development began on the original game. Whether you’re here for the games, the podcast, or the growing world of the Nowhere, there’s something unsettling for everyone.

Let’s break it down.

Little Nightmares III Gets a Release Date, New Gameplay, and Co-op Details

The big moment came early: Little Nightmares III is officially launching on October 10, 2025. It’s coming to PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PC, Nintendo Switch, and Nintendo Switch 2.

The showcase gave us a deeper look at the game’s setting, The Carnevale, a twisted funfair packed with oversized attractions and unsettling characters. You play as Low, a boy in a raven mask and blue cape, and Alone, a girl with red pigtails and a green jumpsuit. They’re trapped in a region called The Spiral, and your job is to help them escape.

This entry also introduces online co-op alongside solo play. You’ll be able to share the full experience with a friend, even if they don’t own the game, thanks to the new Friend’s Pass.

A lengthy gameplay demo walked through some key mechanics. Each character has their own tool, used for solving puzzles or fighting off enemies like puppets and the unsettling Herd. The game keeps its 2.5D perspective but expands environments with more vertical movement, weather effects, and atmospheric lighting. It’s still as uncomfortable as ever, just a bit more ambitious.

The developers also mentioned that the game’s story will be told through environment details and object placement. Fans are encouraged to look closely and come up with their own theories. It’s the kind of storytelling that has defined the series and remains central here.

Little Nightmares Enhanced Edition Available Now

To celebrate the series’ legacy, Bandai Namco revealed a surprise drop. The original Little Nightmares is getting an Enhanced Edition, and it’s available now for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Nintendo Switch 2.

This updated version adds ray tracing, volumetric lighting, and new gameplay helpers like modern checkpoints. It’s designed to make the game more accessible to new players, while still staying faithful to the original’s atmosphere and pacing.

If you’ve never played the first game, this is now the best way to start. And if you already have, it’s a chance to see the story of Six with a fresh coat of polish and a few quality-of-life improvements.

Anyone who pre-orders a digital version of Little Nightmares III on supported platforms gets access to the Enhanced Edition immediately.

Sounds of Nightmares Podcast Continues with Season Two

The Sounds of Nightmares podcast is coming back for another season. Announced during the showcase, Season Two will continue exploring the mysterious world introduced in Season One, focusing on the strange, unfamiliar region known as The Counties and its connection to The Nowhere.

The story centres on Noone, a young girl undergoing psychological treatment as she recounts her nightmares. Season One was recorded in five languages and has already reached over two million listens worldwide. The team credited the community’s strong response and fan theories as a driving force for its return.

Season Two is still in development, with no set release date yet. But the creators confirmed it will go deeper into the lore of the Little Nightmares universe and revisit familiar locations from the first season. If you missed out, now’s a good time to catch up.

Little Nightmares Comic Series Launches This Fall

A new four-part comic series titled Little Nightmares: Descent to Nowhere is on the way. It launches this October, with issues releasing monthly through January 2026.

The series tells two parallel stories. In The Nowhere, a mute girl named Hush wakes up cold and alone in a jail cell. She soon meets Mono, and together they try to escape a maze-like dungeon. Meanwhile, over in The Counties, a detective named Myra becomes obsessed with solving cold cases involving missing children. A chance meeting with a stranger pulls her deeper into a growing mystery.

The writers confirmed that the comic connects both regions and expands on ideas introduced in the podcast. They also revealed that the project was born out of a community contest and that one of the episodes was directly inspired by a fan-submitted story.

It’s a grounded way to explore more of the Little Nightmares world without losing the strange, uneasy tone the series is known for.

A New Horror Novel Expands the Carnevale’s Mystery

Alongside the comic, a Little Nightmares horror novel is also on the way. It launches in September 2025 and tells a new story set in The Carnevale, the same twisted fairground featured in Little Nightmares III.

The novel follows a girl named Ruse, who wakes up in a dark room with two other children she doesn’t recognize. One wears a noose, the other hides behind a mask. Ruse quickly realizes that nothing about this place is safe, and that her chances of escape may depend on whether these children are her friends or something far worse.

This is the first Little Nightmares story written specifically for a young adult audience, but it keeps the series’ eerie themes and psychological focus. The writers teased a tense, personal journey filled with unsettling choices and slow reveals.

Between this and the comic, there’s now a deeper look at The Counties, The Carnevale, and how these spaces link together.

A Stop Motion Project Is in the Works

Before revealing the VR project, the developers shared a brief teaser for a new stop motion project set in the Little Nightmares universe. They didn’t say much about it, only that it’s something the team has been “crafting very carefully behind the scenes.”

No name, format, or release window was shared, so it’s unclear whether this is a short film, series, or something else entirely. Still, it’s another sign that the franchise is expanding across multiple formats, not just games.

One Last Surprise: Little Nightmares in VR

The showcase ended with one more reveal. A new Little Nightmares project is in development, and this time it’s fully in virtual reality.

Details are still limited, but a short teaser confirmed that a VR experience set in the Little Nightmares universe is coming. No platforms or release window were announced, but the developers described it as a personal project that’s been quietly in the works for some time.

This VR title joins a growing list of Little Nightmares projects now in development, including the upcoming sequel, podcast, comic series, and novel. It’s clear that Bandai Namco is expanding the series far beyond its platforming roots.

More information on the VR project and the rest of today’s announcements will be shared in the coming months.
