The closed beta follows the game’s reveal during June’s PlayStation State of Play and its first public demo at Evo 2025, where fans got hands-on time with Marvel Tōkon and a look at PlayStation’s new FlexStrike fight stick.
Here’s everything we know about the Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls closed beta.
Beta Dates, Access, and How to Sign Up
The Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls closed beta will run from September 5 to 7, exclusively on PlayStation 5. Registration is available now through the game’s PlayStation Store page. Signing up does not guarantee entry, so those interested should keep an eye on their email in the weeks leading up to the test.
The beta is console-only for now, with no PC version confirmed. A similar hands-on was shown at Evo 2025, but this marks the first opportunity for fans at home to try the game. Selected participants will get access to multiple features, including online and limited offline play.
Characters and Modes in the Beta
The beta will feature six playable characters: Captain America, Iron Man, Ms. Marvel, Star-Lord, Storm, and Doctor Doom. Each one draws from their comic book powers, with Arc System Works confirming custom move sets designed for Marvel Tōkon’s 4v4 tag format.
Participants will be able to take part in online matches, limited offline matches, and test out features like a 64-player chibi-style lobby, spectator mode, and a tutorial mode called Startup Battle. All matches will take place on a Marvel’s New York stage, with access to three different areas during the beta.
Gameplay Format and Beta Goals
The closed beta will give selected users an early chance to experience Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls in action. It includes online and limited offline matches, with access to six characters and a shared lobby. Spectator Mode and a tutorial mode called Startup Battle are also part of the test.
Arc System Works is using the beta to evaluate online performance, matchmaking functionality, and early user impressions. This limited test will help the team prepare for future updates ahead of the game’s full release in 2026.
