Microsoft and ASUS Unveil the ROG Xbox Ally and Ally X

After months of rumors and leaks, Microsoft and ASUS have finally announced the ROG Xbox Ally and the ROG Xbox Ally X. Designed to mix the power of Xbox with the flexibility of Windows, both handhelds promise to deliver seamless gaming on the go, and are set to launch globally in select markets this holiday 2025.

The announcement, made in the Xbox Games Showcase 2025, highlights Microsoft’s continued investment in giving players freedom to enjoy their games across multiple platforms. Whether at home, on the move, or in the cloud. These devices build on that vision with full support for Xbox Play Anywhere, Game Pass, Xbox Cloud Gaming (Beta), and Remote Play.

Two Models, Two Experiences

ROG Xbox Ally: Aimed at casual players and enthusiasts alike, the standard model includes the AMD Ryzen Z2 A processor, 16 GB of RAM, and 512 GB of storage.

ROG Xbox Ally X: Targeted at the performance-hungry gamer, this model bumps up the specs with the AMD Ryzen AI Z2 Extreme processor, 24 GB of RAM, and a 1 TB SSD—plus added comfort features like impulse triggers.

Both models share a 7″ 1080p 120Hz IPS display, Windows 11 support, and contoured grips based on the Xbox Wireless Controller. They also include a range of input options, HD haptics, and compatibility with your existing Xbox ecosystem.
