Xbox Titles Were Big Hits Across Various Platforms
A report from VGC has indicated that Microsoft has topped the bill as the biggest games publisher for December 2024. In total $465 Million was spent on Xbox Game Studios titles in this period across Xbox, PC and PlayStation.
The data indicates that Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 was a big driver for this with the game taking in 38 million monthly users during November 2024. Gamers also spent 20 million hours playing Call of Duty on December 25th.
Of course, this was not the only Xbox Game Studios title that shipped in this period as December also saw the release of Indiana Jones and The Great Circle.
Another interesting stat is that 64% of spending on Xbox Game Studios titles in December was on the PlayStation platform. Microsoft was also comfortably ahead of 2nd placed EA who generated $366 million in the same period.
If there was ever any more proof needed that Xbox’s new multiplatform approach was indeed the correct one this is it. Xbox Game Studios stands on the precipice of becoming not only the biggest but also one of the best publishing studios in gaming.
Bringing some of their beloved franchises such as Gears of War, Halo and Forza to more platforms will greatly increase their revenue. In turn, this will not only help the Xbox platform and ecosystem but will also ensure that Xbox Game Studios keeps producing high-quality games.
