NACON and Midgar Studio have announced Edge of Memories, a new third-person action JRPG set in the Edge of Eternity universe. The first game, Edge of Eternity, is available on multiple cloud gaming services, allowing players to experience the world of Heryon across different platforms. This new title is set to launch in fall 2025 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC (Steam). Hopefully, it will also reach the clouds on release!
Edge of Memories takes players to the continent of Avaris, a land afflicted by a plague known as the Corrosion, which turns both wildlife and humans into monstrous creatures. The protagonist, Eline, is a young Soul Whisperer who travels the world using her unique abilities to help the affected inhabitants. Developed with Unreal Engine 5, the game promises an immersive experience with a narrative exploring themes such as mass migration, disease, and adaptation to a changing environment.
Unlike Edge of Eternity, which featured a turn-based combat system, Edge of Memories opts for a more dynamic gameplay approach with real-time battles. Players will master Eline’s abilities, execute combos with her companions, and unleash the power of the Berserk to defeat enemies.
Midgar Studio, based in Montpellier, is a small team of developers passionate about JRPGs. This project features collaborations with notable artists and composers in the genre, including Raita Kazama (Xenoblade Chronicles X), Sawako Natori (NieR), Emi Evans (NieR: Automata), Yasunori Mitsuda (Chrono Trigger, Xenogears), and Mariam Abounnasr (Xenoblade Chronicles 3, ONINAKI).
