Netflix Game Studio Spry Fox is hot off its recent indie game Cozy Grove: Camp Spirit, their first game on the Netflix Games platform. During an interview with Mobilegamer.biz, the director of the Spry Fox game studio, David Edery, teased us with some exciting things to come, so we will go over a few interesting takeaways.
Key Points
One of the notable things we learned from this interview included the measurements of success and how Netflix has taken a huge weight off Spry Fox’s back. The measurement of success that is mentioned in the interview is to see how many gamers repeatedly come back to play the game in question. David also mentioned how the Netflix deal led to Spry Fox having more resources and support, as well as being able to launch Cozy Grove: Camp Spirit to 270+ million paying Netflix subscribers without having to implement ads or in-app purchases. We also found out that life at Spry Fox hasn’t changed much besides the usual decisions, where legal, finance, and accounting are now done by Netflix’s teams instead of Spry Fox. We also found out that Spry Fox has two dev teams, with the second team currently working on a “large unannounced cozy game” which we will hear more about in the future.
But What About Triple Town?
When Mr. Edery was asked about whether or not we could see Spry Fox’s original breakout indie game from 2010, Triple Town, come to Netflix Games, the response was interesting:
We are not currently working on bringing Triple Town to Netflix. But this is something I have repeatedly discussed with the rest of the studio. We all want to make it happen at some point!

What’s interesting is that while a port to Netflix isn’t currently in development, there seems to be internal interest from Spry Fox, and due to the success of Triple Town, Netflix might be open to releasing this game among other Spry Fox games on Netflix Games, especially if Cozy Grove: Camp Spirits is a huge hit like we expect it to be.
