Netflix Games, the gaming platform within the Netflix app, has been steadily growing its gaming catalogue since 2021, with only two games ever being removed, and that’s due to game-breaking bugs.
Today, however, Netflix has had some strange pop-ups appear on two of its Grand Theft Auto titles claiming they’re “leaving soon.”
Why Is Happening?
As of right now, these pop-ups only appear in GTA Vice City and GTA 3. GTA San Andreas is missing for some reason; however, it did recently left PS Plus. This is coming mere days after Rockstar Games released a new patch to fix many of the criticisms of GTA: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition.
The reason these games are leaving, despite being two of Netflix’s most downloaded titles, is most probably due to licensing issues. Like all subscription services, Netflix doesn’t own all the games on its platform. If these titles do leave Netflix Games on the dates stated, it will be exactly one year to the day after they were initially added.
This certainly points to the end of an agreement between Netflix and Take-Two.
The GTA titles leaving Netflix games will certainly come as a blow to the service. Earlier this year, it was confirmed that the titles had been downloaded over 30 million times via Netflix Games.
