Netflix Games, the gaming platform within the Netflix platform, has hit a major milestone in its growth journey and has now surpassed over 210 million downloads since the service launched. The game leading these impressive numbers is Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, which makes up 25.2 million downloads (slightly more than 10% of the total downloads). So let’s break down these numbers, which come from MobileGamer.biz, who are reporting from the site Appmagic. You can read their article here.

How Do Netflix’s Gaming Titles Stack Up?

With 210 million downloads combined across its over 100 mobile games, it’s clear Netflix Games isn’t slacking. Listed below, you can see the exact numbers of the top ten games on Netflix Gaming.

A list of the top 10 most-downloaded Netflix games, with "GTA: San Andreas" at the top, totaling 25.2 million downloads.

This lineup is definitely an interesting one. Personally, I would have expected Grand Theft Auto: Vice City to be higher on the list. I’m also surprised to see the second most popular game on the platform is Storyteller, which is an incredible game in its own right. I am also curious if we will see the game Stranger Things: 1984, which is based on the Netflix television series Stranger Things, actually be knocked out of the Top 10 in the future. One thing is for certain, however, Netflix’s Gaming division isn’t slowing down.

But we also have the numbers which roll out numbers 11 to 20, and it gives us an even more interesting as it includes the following games in the following order.

  • 11. Scriptic Netflix Edition (Scriptic) 5.2 Million
  • 12. Stranger Things 3 The Game (BonusXP) 4 Million
  • 13. Too Hot To Handle 2 (Nanobit) 3.8 Million
  • 14. GTA 3 (Rockstar Games) 3.6 Million
  • 15. Netflix Stories (Boss Fight Entertainment) 3.58 Million
  • 16. Sonic Prime Dash (Sega) 3.2 Million
  • 17. Classic Solitare (MobilityWare) 3.2 Million
  • 18. Twelve Minutes (Annapurna Interactive) 3.17 Million
  • 19. Exploding Kittens (Dire Wolf) 3.1 Million
  • 20. TMNT Shredder’s Revenge (Playdigeous) 2.9 Million

Now this list is where things get fascinating, as I am surprised at some lower download numbers, especially for TMNT Shredder’s Revenge, which I thought would have been more popular. I am also stunned at how small the gap in downloads is between GTA 3 and Netflix Stories, with the latter likely to overtake the former within the coming months thanks to the launch of Netflix Stories Emily In Paris and Netflix Stories Selling Sunset. However, with five games within the Top 15 being Netflix published games based on Stranger Things and Too Hot To Handle alongside Netflix Stories, it shows Netflix is a serious game publisher. But we also have the average number of downloads of the Top 10 games over the last 30 days.

This list showcases the number of downloads for the most popular games within the last thirty days. Obviously, GTA San Andreas tops the list, followed by Too Hot To Handle 3 and the extremely popular indie hit Storyteller. The range of these games is interesting as the newest games on the list are Snake.io and Ludo King; however, it is great to see games like Bloons TD 6, GTA Vice City, Storyteller, and GTA San Andreas still hanging on in popularity despite being added to Netflix Games over a year ago in some cases. Once again, we couldn’t have written this article if it wasn’t for the fabulous team at Mobile Gamer. Biz, which you can check out their article here.
