Palworld More Than Just Pals Is Actually Real This Time (Probably)

Colorful cartoon characters in a lineup; a dragon, a woman, and animal-like figures. Text reads, “Palworld: More than just pals.”.

What started as a 2024 April Fools’ joke is now a real game you can wishlist on Steam. Pocketpair has officially announced Pal♡world! ~More Than Just Pals~, also known as simply Palworld More Than Just Pals, a dating sim spinoff of the monster-catching, survival-crafting chaos factory that is Palworld. Yes, really. Probably.

Instead of mining or shooting down corporate drones with your electric deer, you’ll now enroll in Palagos Private Academy, where your main objectives are flirting, patting heads, and maybe getting stabbed by a yandere spider-girl. If this sounds like a fever dream from the devs’ group chat, that’s probably because it was.

But it’s real now, apparently. There’s a trailer (at the bottom of this article), a Steam page, and a giveaway for a Lovander body pillow. You can even meet characters like Katress, Lovander, and Nurse Saya, who casually offers you drinks during school hours. Educational! Or deeply concerning. Maybe both.

Dating Pals, Classmates, and Probably a Spider

Pal♡world! More Than Just Pals puts you in the shoes of a transfer student at Palagos Private Academy. There, you’ll meet human characters like your childhood friend Zoe, the mysterious Katress, and the suspiciously flirty student council president. You’ll also interact with Pals like Lovander, Splatterina, and Quivern — some of whom want love, and others who might just want to eat you. Or be eaten. Yes, that’s apparently an option.

The game leans fully into parody, with exaggerated anime tropes and character bios that read like fanfiction dares. Nurse Saya drinks on the job and flirts in the infirmary. Chillet’s little sister lets out an “Ahhh…♡” when you pat her head. Splatterina carries a knife and has some… possessive tendencies. Whether this is satire, chaos, or some fourth thing, Palworld More Than Just Pals doesn’t seem too worried about drawing a line.

The trailer gives a taste of the nonsense — awkward closeups, over-the-top romance bits, and lots of head pats. Somehow, this still makes more sense than Palworld’s weaponized sheep.

Anime-style character, Splatterina, with red hair and horns, stands in a classroom. Text below shows dialogue.

Wishlist It, or Don’t — It’s Happening Anyway

There’s no release date or price for Palworld More Than Just Pals yet, but the game is available to wishlist on Steam. According to Pocketpair’s social media, this isn’t a second April Fools’ joke — even if it feels like one.

The announcement landed just one day before April 1st, which has some wondering if Pocketpair is trolling again. But with a full trailer, a Steam page, and a body pillow giveaway, it feels too elaborate to be fake — right?

Whether you genuinely wanted to date a Pal or just enjoy the chaos from a distance, this is real now. The devs leaned into the weirdest part of Palworld’s fandom, gave it a school setting, and somehow convinced Steam to go along with it. I don’t know if I’ll actually play it, but I definitely clicked that wishlist button. Out of curiosity. I think.

So what do you think — actual game or next-level April Fools’ bait? Would you romance a Pal, or just watch from afar?
