SEGA has announced the next major content update for Phantasy Star Online 2 New Genesis. The Phantasy Star Online 2 New Genesis Summer Update is scheduled for June 4, 2025. Titled The Realm of Awakened Phantasies, the update introduces a new mini episode, two limited-time quests, level and enhancement cap increases, new Line Strike cards, and a fresh character customization option.
New Mini Episode and Quests
The Phantasy Star Online 2 New Genesis Summer Update continues the storyline following Vael’s defeat. It includes a new mini episode reflecting on the emotional aftermath for the main cast. The episode will unlock after completing Main Tasks.
Two limited-time quests are also coming:
- Shadow of the Fallen Star: A new, urgent quest set in the Crimson Realm has emerged in the Retem Region. Players will be guided by Pharia as they investigate powerful energy signals. Completing associated tasks will reward players with N-Meseta, preset skills, and exclusive CAST parts like the Urien and Bior bodies.
- The Citadel in the Forest: A revamped version of The Fortress in the Forest, featuring new enemies and mechanics. The quest will change again on June 11, offering replay value. Rewards include new titles, the Hagith Hair hairstyle, and accessories such as Metal Claws and Smith Goggles.
System Updates and Gear Expansion
A level cap increase raises all classes to level 105. Weapon and armor enhancement caps are also raised to 100. Up to 8 Augments are now attachable. A new 12-star armor set, Progre Armor, offers a +7% weapon potency boost and high base stats, all part of the update.
The C/Ultia Domina Augment is also being introduced. It requires High Domina Capsules and C/Joindia materials obtainable from the update’s quests. Once acquired, players can craft the new augment at the Item Lab.
Line Strike Updates
The fifth wave of Line Strike cards adds 12 new entries featuring characters from Phantasy Star Universe and Phantasy Star Portable 2. New scratch tickets, cosmetic items like themed playmats and card sleeves, and a new starter deck focused on “Buff Support” mechanics are also being added. The new deck supports beginner-friendly strategies and will be available in the AC Shop.
Unranked Battles will also receive All-Ship Matchmaking, allowing players across all ships to compete against one another.
Character Customization: Animatics Face
A new face type called Animatics Face is being introduced. It is aimed at creating characters with more mature, anime-inspired features. Big Canine toggle options are included, and players are encouraged to experiment through the “Use the Salon to your heart’s content!” campaign.
The launch of the new face option ties into the Slay to Slay Campaign. In this campaign, players can complete special quests to earn CAST parts and limited-edition outfits. Pre-announced Urgent Quests will offer more chances to earn rare gear during the campaign period.
