PlayStation Studios has a new member—teamLFG, a brand new studio formed by veterans behind Destiny, Halo, Fortnite, and League of Legends. Officially announced by Hermen Hulst, CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment’s Studio Business Group, the team is working on an ambitious multiplayer project that blends social connection with fast-paced action.
Here’s what we know about their vision, their team, and what they’re building next.
Who Is teamLFG?
Based in Bellevue, Washington, teamLFG includes developers working both on-site and remotely across the U.S. and Canada. The studio brings together industry veterans from games like Destiny, Halo, League of Legends, Fortnite, Roblox, and Rec Room—alongside newer voices bringing fresh ideas to the table.
The name “teamLFG” stands for “Looking For Group,” a reference to online matchmaking culture. But for the team, it goes deeper. They’re aiming to create games where gamers don’t just queue up for matches—they show up for each other. From spontaneous hangouts to memorable in-game moments, the goal is to make social connection part of the experience.
What Are They Working On?
teamLFG’s first game is a team-based action game set in a lighthearted, science-fantasy world. It draws inspiration from fighting games, platformers, MOBAs, life sims, and even what the studio jokingly calls “frog-type games.”
While much is still under wraps, the team describes the game as focused on action-based gameplay and social interaction. Their goal is to create a multiplayer experience gamers can learn, play, and master over time. They want it to evolve with community input.
Early access playtests are part of the plan, giving gamers a chance to shape the game through feedback. teamLFG also plans to support the title as a live service, reacting to feedback not just before launch, but throughout the game’s lifecycle.
A Live Service Future with PlayStation
teamLFG’s debut aligns with PlayStation’s growing investment in live service games. Known for its blockbuster single-player hits, Sony has steadily expanded its focus to include long-term multiplayer experiences across its first-party studios.
With teamLFG now part of the PlayStation Studios family, Sony adds a team built specifically around community-driven design. The studio’s emphasis on social play, continuous updates, and early access feedback fits right into PlayStation’s strategy for evolving online experiences.
Are you excited to see what teamLFG is working on? What would you want from a new social action game?
