A new community-made app is giving GeForce NOW gamers an easier way to see what’s happening before they jump in. PrintedWaste is a GeForce NOW queue and game patching app. It is available on iOS and Android and shows real-time queue lengths, game patching status, and server details.

We spoke with Kiefer Lin, the app’s creator, to find out all about the brand new app and what inspired it and what features are on the way.

From Idea to App

The idea for PrintedWaste started with Kiefer’s own experience using GeForce NOW’s free tier on a 2012 MacBook Air. Long waits were a regular part of his gaming sessions, and he wanted a way to make them less frustrating.

“I was always waiting in line and I always wanted a way to skip a bit so I wouldn’t have to wait for so long. I wanted this for other users too.”

What began as a personal solution quickly turned into a community project. Before the public release, the app went through internal testing with members of Kiefer’s Discord server, who provided feedback on bugs, design tweaks, and new ideas for features. That testing process directly shaped the app, with suggestions like OLED display optimization and additional customization options making it onto the development roadmap.

Today, PrintedWaste is a community-developed tool, built independently from NVIDIA and designed to give cloud gamers better visibility into queues and server activity before they start playing.

Core Features

PrintedWaste is designed to give GeForce NOW users a clear view of server activity before they start a session. The app’s main features include:

  • Real-time GFN Status: Current queue lengths and server availability across supported regions.
  • Smart Notifications: Alerts when queue times drop below a set threshold. Kiefer expects this feature to be available within the next two weeks.
  • Queue Analytics: Historical data showing how queue times change over time.
  • Multi-Region Support: The ability to switch between different GeForce NOW regions.
  • Dark Mode: Matches your device’s theme for viewing.

Both iOS and Android versions offer the same features, with only a minor server naming update pending for iOS. Kiefer recently added all GeForce NOW servers except for NVIDIA partner servers, which require special access to track. He has contacted these partners for cooperation, though some have declined, and others have yet to respond.

Planned Updates

Many of the upcoming changes to PrintedWaste come directly from feedback shared during internal testing with Kiefer’s Discord community. Suggestions from testers have shaped the roadmap, with several updates already in development.

Widget support is planned, allowing quick status checks without opening the app. An Apple Watch companion app is also on the list, along with advanced notification filters for more control over alerts. OLED display optimization, another request from testers, is being explored.

One of the most requested features is the ability to see all games available on GeForce NOW, not just those currently in maintenance or patching. Kiefer says the notifications system should be available within the next two weeks. Widget development will begin after he reviews the required documentation for implementation.

NVIDIA partner servers remain untracked for now due to access limitations. Kiefer has contacted all partners for cooperation . Some have declined, while others have not yet responded.

Community Reception

Early response to PrintedWaste has been positive on Reddit and within Kiefer’s Discord community. Users have praised the app for its practicality, including those accessing GeForce NOW through alliance partners.

“Even though I’m on GFN through an alliance partner, this is amazing! well done.”

Some users have suggested new features, such as expanding the game list shown in the app.

“Great app!… It would be cool if you could also see the full list of games through the app, not just those in maintenance/patching.”

Kiefer says feedback from Discord testers before launch helped identify bugs and refine existing features. Several ideas raised during testing, including OLED display optimization and more customization options, are now part of the development roadmap.

Free to Use and Where to Download

PrintedWaste is free to download on both iOS and Android. Kiefer says it will remain free, though ads may be added in the future to help cover server costs.
