Game Source Entertainment has just announced a 2025 release date of RATATAN. This game is the latest project from Hiroyuki Kotani, producer of the PSP classic PATAPON. Developed in collaboration with Tokyo Virtual Theory, this rhythm-action roguelike game will be available on PC, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
The game combines rhythm-based gameplay with roguelike mechanics, offering players a mix of strategic commands and musical challenges.
Gameplay Highlights
In RATATAN, players take on the role of the Ratatan, using magical instruments to command Cobuns in rhythm-driven battles. The game requires accurate timing and teamwork to attack, defend, and move through side-scrolling levels.
Key gameplay elements include:
- Rhythmic Combat: Players follow musical sequences to issue commands and execute moves.
- Fever Mode: Accurate rhythms unlock this mode, changing the music and increasing the intensity of the gameplay.
- Roguelike Design: Randomized power-ups and rewards provide variety and replayability.
Multiplayer and Expanded Features
RATATAN supports up to four players in online co-op. It allows you and your friends to work together on rhythm-based challenges and battles. The game introduces mini-games and new mechanics aimed at improving multiplayer gameplay and encouraging cooperative interaction.
The visuals in RATATAN are designed by Nelnal, with colorful characters and richly detailed landscapes. Building on earlier rhythm games, RATATAN introduces a larger cast and more complex backdrops designed for its rhythm-action gameplay.
