Take this with a big grain of salt! There are a number of ways the community finds rumors about games coming to Stadia. We’ve seen new games in earnings reports, hacks, games getting rated on PEGI and ESRB, Stadia gets mentioned in game press kits, and, sometimes, there are just minor goof-ups that accidentally release information. Looks like the latter happened today and Two Atari titles could be on their way to Stadia.
Earlier today, Stadia posted a Tweet about the latest Savepoint. However, a bunch of quick eyes noticed that the URL in the post redirected to this URL. This appears to be a hidden post on Stadia’s Community blog. Even though the post is hidden, we can deduce the post title from the URL: Next up on Stadia: Atari to launch Centipede & Black-Widow.
We’d keep this one in the heavily rumored category for now! We don’t know when or where the article with the above URL is from. It could be nothing more than a template using hypothetical content for all we know.
One random tidbit of information, though, is that hidden articles display a different message from articles that do not exist.
Just in case though…. for the games mentioned in the supposed title, both Centipede and Black Widow are classic games from Atari that received the remake treatment last year. Centipede: Recharged and Black Widow: Recharged released originally on Atari VCS, and later on PC and consoles. Even with the Epic Store giving them away for free earlier this year.
You can get a glimpse of both games here:
Here are some brief descriptions from Atari’s VCS website:
