Rumour – A GTA IV Port Is On The Way

Time To Pinch The Salt

Could Rockstar be working on a port for GTA IV to bring the game to modern consoles?

Well, a rumour from a known Rockstar insider ‘Tez2’ has strongly suggested that this could indeed be the case. The rumour also suggests that we will see this port release later this year.

The information was posted on a GTA Forum, in which Tez2 posted the following:

‘Someone at R* hinted at the IV port, and by now it should’ve gone up a year in development. We may end up seeing it drop later this year. And it’s one more reason, in addition to existing reasons, the LCPP mod was taken down. If they still follow their plan laid out from the pandemic days, they’ll do an MP3 port after IV. So that is an opportunity to do a bundle or a Definitive Edition. Max Payne 1 & 2 remakes, and a Max Payne 3 port.’

Interestingly, they also mention that we could see a remaster of Max Payne 3.

With Grand Theft Auto VI now delayed until May 2026, it would make perfect sense for Rockstar to bring an updated version of GTA IV to the market.

However, I think it is safe to say that Rockstar would need to produce a port that is higher quality than the recent ports of the original GTA Trilogy. Those games were very rough at launch, although Rockstar did work hard to patch and improve them over time.

GTA IV launched in 2008 and went on to become one of the best-selling games in history. It was also very well received by critics, it sits with a 98/100 rating on Metacritic. It told the story of Niko Belic as he arrived in Liberty City looking to make a new life for himself.

There were also two expansions, The Lost and Damned and The Ballad of Gay Tony.
