Scott Pilgrim is back in a brand-new 2D beat ’em up from Tribute Games, heading to PC, PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch in early 2026. Tribute Games just announced Scott Pilgrim EX, a new action-packed brawler revealed during Summer Game Fest. Developed in collaboration with Universal Products & Experiences and series creator Bryan Lee O’Malley, this new entry features pixel art visuals, four-player co-op, and chaotic combat across a reimagined Toronto. The game is expected to launch in early 2026 on PC and consoles.
You’ll once again take control of Scott Pilgrim, Ramona Flowers, and the rest of the crew as they punch their way through demons, robots, and vegan henchmen. Tribute Games is calling it a bold new chapter, with an original story co-written by O’Malley himself.
Scott Pilgrim EX Gameplay Features Classic Brawling with a Modern Twist.
Scott Pilgrim EX sticks to its beat ’em up roots but adds a few new tricks. It supports four-player co-op and gives you control of Scott, Ramona, and more from the start. Each of the seven playable characters comes with a full move set right away. You’ll be able to fight through side-scrolling levels using creative combos, wild weapons, and custom upgrades.
The combat blends hard-hitting action with character progression. You can upgrade your stats and equip special items to change how each character feels. Tribute Games says the game is all about delivering a personal brawling experience, whether you’re punching robots or smashing through time-warped streets.
You’ll face off against demons, vegan henchmen, and all kinds of enemies in a reimagined version of Toronto. The game features a brand-new storyline filled with chaotic fights and over-the-top encounters as the crew battles to save the city.
A Reunion of Talent from Across the Scott Pilgrim Universe
Scott Pilgrim EX reunites the creative minds behind the series. Bryan Lee O’Malley, the original creator, returns as a creative consultant and co-writer. He’s working closely with Tribute Games to shape the game’s new story, bringing his voice and humor to every scene.
The team at Tribute Games includes developers who worked on the 2010 Scott Pilgrim game before founding the studio in 2011. For them, returning to this world is a full-circle moment. The game’s music comes from Anamanaguchi, the same group behind the original game’s soundtrack. This time, they’re contributing all-new tracks created specifically for this new adventure.
Also joining the project are pixel artist Paul Robertson and BenDavid Grabinski, director of Scott Pilgrim Takes Off. Robertson is helping with character animations, while Grabinski joins as another creative consultant.
