Today, Sabotage Studio releases the free “Dawn of Equinox” update for Sea of Stars, introducing new features like three-player co-op and revamped combat. Available on PC, consoles, and many cloud gaming services, including Game Pass Ultimate, the update brings the studio’s expanded vision for the game into full effect.
Sea of Stars: Dawn of Equinox includes:
- Three-Player Co-op: Players can now experience the entire story alongside friends, taking advantage of a new Co-op Timed Hits combat mechanic.
- Combat 2.0: Mystery Locks introduce a dynamic where players uncover enemy weaknesses, adding depth to battles. Skills now feature “Reveal” functions, and Combo Points persist between battles.
- Revamped Prologue: The update reimagines the introduction by adding combat sections to the heroes’ childhood scenes, bypassing the flashback structure.
- New Cutscene: A cinematic titled “Paths on Water” enhances a pivotal moment in the story.
- Speedrunner Mode: This new relic helps players aiming for record-breaking playthroughs.
- Difficulty Options: Three new presets give players control over game difficulty.
- Improved Parrot Relic: Enhances the parrot’s abilities to assist with secret tracking.
- Quebecois Localization: Comprehensive French Canadian localization.
- Quality of Life Improvements: General updates across the game’s campaign.
Game director Thierry Boulanger shared that Dawn of Equinox is a gift to the community, made possible by fan support. The update precedes “Throes of the Watchmaker”, a new storyline set to arrive in Spring 2025 with an additional playable character and a challenging miniature clockwork world, where players will again have the option to use co-op mode.
