Sea of Thieves Launches Season 14 with New Features and Tools

The popular multiplayer Sea of Thieves has officially launched its 14th season, bringing new gameplay features and tools for players. After the arrival of Captain Flameheart in Season 13, the focus of Season 14 shifts towards expanding the Sea of Thieves world with additional mechanics and customization options.

Expanded Arsenal in Sea of Thieves

Players now have access to two new pieces of equipment: the harpoon hook and the blowpipe. The harpoon hook offers versatility, allowing players to not only use it as a weapon but also to move treasure, pull other pirates, or reel in enemies. Meanwhile, the blowpipe can fire different types of darts, including poison darts, lures, and explosive darts.

For the first time in Sea of Thieves, players can crouch and move stealthily to avoid detection. Disguises, such as barrels or treasure chests, add another layer of strategy, helping players hide from enemies. Additionally, players can now lay traps, which can be loaded with objects or buried to make them harder to spot.

New Cosmetic Options

Season 14 also introduces an optional Plunder Pass, featuring the “Inner Sanctuary” ship set and pirate clothing, including the Inner Sanctuary jacket, belt, and hat. The pass also offers 750 Ancient Coins, which can help players recoup the cost of the pass.

With Halloween just around the corner, the new season offers various opportunities for players to take on more terrifying enemies. Special Halloween-themed content is expected to arrive soon.

The Season 14 update is free for all Sea of Thieves players on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Windows 10/11 PCs, PlayStation 5, and Steam, as well as those with access through Xbox Game Pass.
