This Deluxe Edition includes three bonus outfits with unique gameplay perks. We first covered the game back in May when it was playable at PAX East. You can read our original article here for a closer look at the gameplay and retro history.
What’s in the Deluxe Edition
The newly revealed Deluxe Edition includes three exclusive costumes that give Shantae new looks and gameplay boosts. The Relic Hunter Costume powers up Pike Ball attacks, the High Voltage Costume boosts Storm Puff attacks, and the Sizzle Armor Costume enhances Fireball attacks. These outfits are only available in the Deluxe Edition and won’t be sold separately in digital form.
A new trailer was released, and shows off each costume in action. If you’re planning to pick up a physical copy, you won’t miss out. Every boxed version published by Limited Run Games will include the Deluxe Edition content on the cartridge or disc.

Shantae Advance: Risky Revolution Gameplay Features and Series Timeline
Shantae Advance: Risky Revolution brings back classic 2D action with hair-whip attacks, belly-dance transformations, and magic items. You’ll explore layered stages using a unique land-shifting mechanic that lets you swap between Front Yard and Back Yard areas to reach hidden paths and solve puzzles.
The game includes familiar transformations like monkey, elephant, and crab forms, along with towns, labyrinths, upgrades, and returning characters like Rottytops, Sky, and Bolo.
For the first time in the series, up to four people can compete locally in Battle Mode. There’s also a Classic visual mode that replicates the original Game Boy Advance look or an updated option with HD portraits and menus.
Chronologically, Risky Revolution takes place between the original Shantae and Shantae: Risky’s Revenge, making it the second entry in the timeline.

Shantae Advance: Risky Revolution Release Date and Preorder Info
Shantae Advance: Risky Revolution launches digitally on August 19, 2025. It will be available on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam.
Physical editions are coming later this year through Limited Run Games. Preorders for those open on August 8, with both Standard and Deluxe versions available. Every physical copy will include the Deluxe costumes, so you won’t need to buy them separately or redeem a code.
More preorder details will be shared on Limited Run Games’ social channels closer to launch.
